Best in Show I by Courtney Prahl

Best in Show I by Courtney Prahl is a thoughtfully layered mixed media artwork that blends affection, history and design into a single, engaging image. The familiar outline of a dog emerges from an intricate collage of vintage paper fragments, from softly yellowed sheet music and numerical charts to typewritten passages and handwritten notes. Together, these elements form a surface rich in texture and visual interest, suggesting stories gathered over time and the enduring bond between people and their animals.

The composition is set against a fluid blue background that feels airy and expansive, enhanced by subtle circular forms and abstract markings that create depth without distraction. A gentle arc of green and blue shapes across the upper section adds a sense of lightness and movement, while the layered papers along the lower edge provide balance and grounding. Prahl’s distinctive style brings order and spontaneity into harmony, allowing everyday materials to take on new emotional weight through careful arrangement and intuitive colour.

Produced as a premium-quality print, this artwork brings both charm and sophistication to interior spaces. It suits coastal or contemporary homes particularly well, where the blue tones echo open skies and calm interiors. In a living area, it offers a welcoming focal point that feels personal and uplifting. It also works beautifully in a home library, study or creative workspace, where the references to text, numbers and music subtly mirror spaces of thought and reflection. Even in an entryway, it creates an immediate sense of warmth and character, setting a relaxed and thoughtful tone.

As with all the wall prints on this site, this artwork is available as a stretched canvas print, framed print or rolled canvas. We offer a massive variety of sizes, from bold extra-large formats to more compact options, allowing Best in Show I to be styled to suit your space perfectly.
