Summertime Crab

Celebrate the charm of Australia’s coastal spirit with this premium-quality print of Summertime Crab by Katrina Pete, a radiant watercolour artwork bursting with colour, character, and sun-drenched energy. The crab takes centre stage in a brilliant cascade of oranges, reds and warm golden tones, each segment of its shell and each curve of its claws brought to life with fluid strokes and beautifully layered washes. Pete’s confident use of watercolour allows pigments to drift, bloom and merge, creating a lively sense of movement reminiscent of shifting tides and sparkling shallows. The crisp white backdrop amplifies the vibrancy of the palette, ensuring the crab appears bold, bright and irresistibly eye-catching.

Katrina Pete’s artistic voice is shaped by her deep appreciation for nature and her finely tuned observational skills developed during her earlier scientific career. Now based in Minnesota, she channels her love of the outdoors into expressive watercolours that blend gentle detail with airy spontaneity, creating pieces that feel both inviting and joyfully alive.

Summertime Crab brings an uplifting coastal mood to a variety of interiors. It is a striking choice for a modern beach house living room, where its vivid tones echo the warmth of Australian summers. In a bright kitchen or dining nook, it adds a playful yet elegant pop of colour, while in a bathroom, its clean palette and refreshing energy complement light, ocean-inspired décor. It makes a charming feature in a seaside Airbnb, an artful accent in a breezy guest room, or even a cheerful focal point in a creative workspace where a splash of marine life can spark inspiration.

As with all artwork available at Blue Horizon Prints, Summertime Crab can be ordered as a stretched canvas print, framed print or rolled canvas, and is offered in an extensive range of sizes from large statement pieces to compact prints perfect for pairing or gift giving.
