This is a premium-quality print on canvas of Edvard Munch’s masterpiece entitled ‘Summer Night – Inger on the Beach’ ‘It was painted in the summer of 1889 and features Munch’s youngest sister, Inger, enjoying a summer evening in Åsgårdstrand, Norway on the beach. Inger, in a striking white dress, is seen sitting on a granite rock holding onto her straw hat.

Edvard Munch was a Norwegian painter who was best known for his iconic artwork, The Scream. Edvard Munch grew up in Ådalsbruk in Løten, Norway where his childhood was disrupted by bereavement, illness and the constant fear of a genetic mental illness in the family. Munch later lived a more bohemian existence, heavily influenced by Hans Jæger a Norwegian writer, philosopher and anarchist political activist who encouraged Munch to ‘soul paint’ reflecting on his own psychological state resulting in Edvard Munch’s unique and distinctive style.
