Melting DOB Complex Blue – Takashi Murakami Pop Art. We would like to introduce you to Mr DOB, a character created by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, we will be adding more of his unique and colourful artwork over the next few days and we hope you love his alternative view of anime-inspired street art as much as we do. Takashi created Mr DOB in 1993 as a self-portrait or alter ego, his name – taken from a Japanese comic book – means “Dobojite dobojite” or “Why? Why?” and if you look carefully you can see his name all over his face, the D is on his left ear, the B on his right and his round face is the ‘O’. With Mr DOB Takashi was able to create a character that whilst being authentically Japanese also had a universal appeal.
As with all the Art on this site, this artwork is available as a framed print black or white, paper, rolled canvas, floating frame and wall decal.
