Alex Katz is an iconic American printmaker and painter, the son of Russian immigrants, who grew up in Queens, New York. Katz creates striking, colourful portraits and landscapes and is recognised for creating big, bold depictions of friends and family, his work is now widely recognised as the precursor to pop art.
