Windmills on Montmartre Van Gogh Print. This classic Van Gogh artwork was painted by the 19th-century Dutch post-impressionist painter during his stay in Paris in 1886-1887 using the medium of oil on canvas. Van Gogh was living in an apartment with his brother in Montmartre, the mills were a part of the scenery which then became a part of the nightlife when many were converted into cabarets giving birth to the likes of the Moulin Rouge (the mills = le moulin).
