Description
Buy a Post Impressionist Print of The Meal. This is a print of an original masterpiece by Paul Gauguin created in 1891. This piece is often referred to as ‘The Bananas’ and was created within the first months of Gauguin’s arrival in Tahiti. This whole composition has been fabricated though, the scene was staged. Tahitians do not customarily wat at a table and the bananas take up a vast amount of space. The scene was created purely for a decorative effect. Paul Gauguin or Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin was a French Post-Impressionist artist who sadly achieved no notoriety until after his death in 1903. Gauguin is now recognised as an important figure of the Symbolist movement through his work as a printmaker, writer, ceramist, painter and sculptor. We are adding a number of stunning prints of original Gauguin pieces so keep checking back for more.
