Edgar Degas (1834-1917) was a French artist who achieved notoriety for his sculptures, drawings, paintings and prints. More than half of this amazing artists body of work featured dancers. Widely recognised as one of the founding fathers of Impressionism, Degas rejected this terminology preferring to be referred to as a realist.
