The Ballet Class Classic Degas Wall Art. The Ballet Class or La Classe de Danse in French is a painting by Edgar Degas. The painting was commissioned by Jean-Baptiste Faure a celebrated French operatic baritone and created in between 1871-1874.
Edgar Degas (1834-1917) was a French artist who achieved notoriety for his sculptures, drawings, paintings and prints. More than half of this amazing artists body of work featured dancers. Widely recognised as one of the founding fathers of Impressionism, Degas rejected this terminology preferring to be referred to as a realist.
