Russian Dancers Stretched Canvas Art. Turns out that these Russian dancers were unlikely to have actually been Russian! the common thought is that this pretty dance troupe actually hailed from Ukraine. It is believed that Degas completed this large pastel creation in 1899.
Edgar Degas (1834-1917) was a French artist who achieved notoriety for his sculptures, drawings, paintings and prints. More than half of this amazing artists body of work featured dancers. Widely recognised as one of the founding fathers of Impressionism, Degas rejected this terminology preferring to be referred to as a realist.
