The original painting was created by Dutch Golden Age artist Johannes Vermeer using the medium of oil on canvas. The painting was completed somewhere between 1657-1659 and currently resides on display at the Gemäldegalerie in Dresden. This painting was originally credited to Rembrandt or Pieter de Hooch with Vermeer only being recognised as it’s creator in 1880.
