I’m sure we’d all love to own a masterpiece to hang on our wall. No matter what our taste in art is, there are some amazing paintings out there, but mostly with amazing price tags to match!
There are, however, several websites with great reputations where you can purchase art for your home or office walls. These sites have been around for a long time and can be relied upon to deliver the art you are looking for, at a price point that is more in keeping with your budget.
Whenever I am looking to purchase new art, I now look online. Buying art online has really improved in recent years. You can now find quality work from great artists who you may not have found otherwise, with the option of a high-quality reproduction falling within people’s budget. To help you navigate the world of inexpensive art, here are some of the best sites to browse for inspiration!
1. Blue Horizon Prints
Blue Horizon Prints offer a huge selection of prints, and they use some of the best materials in the market for their canvas. They print with high quality and top-notch standards. I love their huge selection of masterpieces and there is a wide range of sizes available. If you need a size outside their selection they can be very accommodating, only limited by the size of the canvas rolls.
They also have a custom art section, where you can design your own canvas, and add photos and text to it. Great for gift ideas and office decor! Blue Horizon prints have more than 4000 artworks by hundreds of artists and photographers from around the world with many prints of famous artworks by both classical and modern artists, from Monet and Van Gogh to Gustav to Piet Mondrian and Damien Hirst to Patrick Caulfield.

RedBubble is home to original art sold by the creators. They sell prints in a variety of shapes and sizes, from less recognized artists. They also sell art printed on everyday items such as mugs, t-shirts and phone cases. Red Bubble offers an eclectic mix of work that is uncurated. You can find a huge variety of work on the site from amateur to professional styles of art.
Everything sold is printed works, and you can select from a limited range of sizes. The wall art they offer includes a wide variety of ready-to-hang prints for your home, office, or dorm. Gallery-quality framed photographic prints, metal prints, canvas prints, art prints, mounted canvas or wood prints and artboards to update your space with awesome art.
Minted, which offers prints from a selection of independent artists, has a lovely aesthetic, so you won’t have to sort through as many duds as you would on other art sites. Minted is a good source to buy art online from a variety of independent artists. The site lets you narrow down your search by style, medium, or colour so it’s easy to find a piece in a specific size to go above your living room mantel that will match your room’s decor perfectly. You’ll find plenty of abstract watercolour pieces and modern photography. Minted sells limited edition prints on archival paper from dozens of independent artists. Prints start at $20, and can also be ordered with frames and mattes for an additional price.
If you’re willing to do some scrolling, Etsy is an excellent source for original art, including vintage art. Under “Item Type,” select either “handmade” or “vintage” depending upon what you’re searching for. If you’re looking for printable wall art quotes or want to commission a drawing of your home, you can find that here. On Etsy, you can see people’s creativity completely unleashed. There can be a huge variation in quality and I would recommend thoroughly checking specifications and dimensions of artwork, as well as shipping and handling times.
6. Saatchi Art
An online art gallery, Saatchi Art lets you explore by price point, including original pieces under $500. If you prefer to browse a curated selection, check out the “New This Week” section of art selected by Saatchi Art’s in-house curator. In this giant digital art gallery, you’ll find everything from expensive paintings, to affordable drawings, to original sculptures for your garden. Saatchi Art has a great selection of works to choose from and is relatively inexpensive for the range of original works on offer.
7. Juniper Print Shop
If you’re looking for oversized modern art you can actually afford or you want to build a minimalist gallery wall, Juniper Print Shop is the place to start. Depending on your budget and project, you have several options. You can either order a physical print that will get mailed to your door, or you can opt for a cheaper “digital download” version. Once you download the print, you can get it printed at any local print shop in the size of your choosing. For those who want big modern art on a tight budget, Juniper Print Shop should be one of your first choices.
Artfinder allows you to buy original art directly from artists all over the world, with many pieces under $500. The art offered for sale is unique and handcrafted by the artist so you
know you are purchasing the originals. Artfinder offers art direct from the artist to your home. Whether you’re an art lover or art curious, they connect you directly with independent artists around the world. Every single piece is original and signed by the artist, carrying its own unique story. It offered original artworks only so you won’t find a budget masterpiece here by a known artist, but you may be able to pick up an exclusive piece by an emerging artist at a down to earth price.
9. Tiny Showcase
Every Tuesday, Tiny Showcase releases a new limited edition print of a work by an independent artist. The prints are on the smaller side—most are sized to fit an 11′′x14′′ frame or smaller—but the prices are very reasonable, starting at only $15. This may be a great option if you are looking for smaller works to fill a niche space in your home or office. It’s a narrow market to be sure, but something there will appeal to almost everyone looking for that one small but perfect piece of art to complete the look they are seeking.
10. Deviant Art
DeviantArt is the world’s largest online social community for artists and art enthusiasts,
allowing people to connect through the creation and sharing of art.
You may know Deviant Art as an online hub for creators, but you can also purchase prints there. Styles tend towards the fantastic and the surreal, and prices are quite reasonable—for example, you can buy a 12′′x18′′ framed print for $50. Deviant Art is one site I would recommend for lovers of the ethereal and space art, science fiction and magical creature lovers. Their range is as wide as the capacity of human imagination!
